Presented by OCCA in partnership with the CCHSBC and the KMS
For sixteen years, the OCCA Communities Association (OCCA) has helped preserve and share the histories of Chinese and Asian communities in the Okanagan—through AHM History Online and the annual Asian Heritage Exhibition at the downtown Kelowna library each May. This new phase builds on that foundation and opens the door for wider public participation.
The Okanagan Chinese History Project will document, preserve, and make accessible the stories of Chinese Canadians in our region. Together with CCHSBC and the Kelowna Museums Society, we will collect oral histories, photographs, documents, and artifacts; develop bilingual exhibitions and learning resources; and strengthen digital access for families, educators, and the public. We will do this with care—accurate naming and dating, respectful handling of sensitive materials, and options for privacy where appropriate.

We welcome you to join us at the reception to honour the past, connect with one another, and look toward the future.
Event Details: Sunday, October 26, 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM located at the Laurel Packinghouse (1304 Ellis St, Kelowna)
